March 8, 2007 4-20-07 My Guide to Freespire Linux 3-8-07 D40x Baffles Industry! Actually, it's a good idea. Take the guts of the D40 and a D80/D200 10 megapixel sensor. Slap them together and you have a great entry level camera, with a top-notch sensor. Personally, I have no need for this new camera (and at the price point $799, reaching for the D80 or D200 makes better sense). On the other hand, for the amateur who wants top image quality in an easy to use package, it's alright. For most uses, the regular 6 megapixel D40 is a better value. 3-1-07 Consolidated Nikon D3 / D3x Internet Rumors Several sites and message threads are reporting a Nikon D3x or D3 or D3h to be announced at PMA on March 8th. Here are some RUMORED specifications Sensor: 18mp, 1.13x crop factor - ALMOST full frame, but not quite DX-sized high speed crop mode (10fps?, 12mp?) which will accomodate DX 1.5x crop lenses. Automatic switch to HSC mode with a DX lens (can be overridden) Speculation here. It will be interesting to see if a D3h is announced first, or simultaneously. Personally, I think Nikon is on the right track with the HSC mode of the D2x. Make a single flagship camera, suitable for sports, events, and studio, and charge a bundle for it. I'll definitely read any eventual announcement with glee... but not finding the D2x lacking in any capacity except high-iso noise (trumped by the D50), I'm not sure I would be in the market for the new camera. I'm just 'hitting my stride' with the D2x. 2-7-07 San Diego ZOO GALLERY Now Available! 1-12-07 Link - Capture NX Upgrade Announced - Maybe NX will become usable! 1-12-07 Link D40 vs. D50 High ISO Noise Comparison 1-14-07 How to Run 100 Miles in 24 Hours Comprehensive Lap by Lap detail of the entire 24 hours now available here
