Epic Frames-Per-Second Shootout! D50, D70, D80, D2x
This is a just-for-fun frame-per-second and shutter-sound comparison of the D50/70/80/D2x. It illustrates part of the sensory experience of using each of the cameras. The video is certainly not a legitimate substitute for using any of the cameras first-hand. They're all very good. In this type of comparison, the D2x distinguishes itself for its extremely fast shooting rate and miniscule mirror blackout time.
Documented Camera ratings:
D50: 2.5fps
D70: 3fps
D80: 3fps
D2x: 5fps, 8fps in high-speed-crop mode
My Test Conditions for all cameras:
Set to maximum shutter speed: 1/8000 for D70, D2x; 1/4000 for D50, D80
Set to manual focus
Test within camera buffer limits (so that card speed does not impact FPS)
Continuous shooting mode
Fire away!
The Verdict:
No surprises or controversy. Each camera performs as designed. Watch the video and compare/contrast the speed and sound of the cameras.
